2 Marks Away from Success – My TGRTC Mechanical Supervisor Trainee (MST) Experience & Next TGRTC Opportunities

 The Moment I Won’t Forget

I still remember that exact moment. Opening the PDF, scrolling slowly, heart beating faster… and then stopping. Just 2 marks. That’s all it took for my name not to be there for the Mechanical Supervisor Trainee (MST) next stage in the Charminar Zone.

For a few minutes, everything felt silent. It’s strange how such a small number—a decimal point—can feel so heavy. Months of preparation, sleepless nights, revision after revision… and in the end, everything comes down to a margin so small that it almost feels unreal.

If you are reading this and feeling the same disappointment, I want to say this clearly—I understand. I lived it.

This Is Not the End

After sitting with that feeling and thinking deeply, I realised something important. This is not the end of our journey. This is an experience. And if we use it correctly, it can become our biggest advantage.

Think Like an Engineer

We are engineers. We don’t just accept results—we analyse them.

Think about how we handle a machine error. If a component comes out wrong, we don’t blame the machine and walk away. We check everything—tool path, offsets, programming, feed rates, alignment. Step by step, we identify the exact issue.

This MST result is exactly like that.

Instead of asking “Why me?”, ask:

  • Where did I lose those 2 marks?
  • Was it a calculation mistake?
  • Was it time pressure?
  • Did I lack clarity in any concept?

These questions are powerful. Because once we find the mistake, we can fix it.

The Truth About Those 2 Marks

Missing by 2 marks does not mean I’m not capable. It simply means there was a small gap.

And the best part?
That gap is measurable.
That gap is correctable.

The Road Ahead – TGRTC Opportunities

Now let’s focus on what really matters—the future. Opportunities are still open, and they are very relevant for us.

  • Assistant Mechanical Engineer (AME) – 18 Posts
Core mechanical job. Our MST preparation already gives us a strong base.
  • Depot Manager / Assistant Traffic Manager – 25 Posts
A mix of technical and management roles. Many ignore this, but it’s a strong opportunity.
  • Assistant Engineer (Civil) – 23 Posts
A good number of posts, but for the Civil branch. Not ideal for Mechanical students.
  • Section Officer – 11 Posts
Limited posts, but still worth considering.

This clearly shows—we still have multiple chances ahead.

Why Charminar Zone Makes You Strong (My Experience)

Charminar Zone is one of the toughest zones in Telangana. I didn’t just hear this—I experienced it myself.

The competition here is very high. When I saw the cutoffs going above 100 for most categories, it clearly showed the level we are competing at. This is not an average competition; this is a high-performance environment.

And that’s when I realised something important.

If you are within just 1–2 marks of the cutoff in this zone, it means:

  • You are not weak
  • You are not unqualified
  • You are already among the top candidates

You were just 1% away.

That 1% may look small, but in competitive exams, it makes a huge difference. One question, one calculation, one decision under pressure—that’s all it takes.

From my experience, being close to the cutoff in Charminar Zone is not a failure. It is proof that you are already at a strong level.

But This Is True for Every Zone

After understanding this, I realised something even bigger.

It’s not just about Charminar Zone. Every zone has its own level of competition. In some zones, the cutoff may be slightly lower, but the effort, preparation, and pressure remain the same everywhere.

In every zone:

  • Candidates are working hard
  • Competition is real
  • Small mistakes make big differences

So, whether it is Charminar or any other zone, if you are close to the cutoff, it means you are already performing at a competitive level.

My Strategy After This Result

Right now, I see my situation as a “Getting Ready” stage.

Here’s what I am doing:

1. Error Analysis
Going back to the MST paper and finding exactly where I lost marks.

2. TGRTC-Focused Preparation
Understanding their exam pattern and preparing accordingly.

3. Daily Consistency
Even a small daily effort keeps the momentum alive.

Because preparation is like maintaining a machine,
If you stop, performance drops.
If you continue, efficiency improves.

The Real Meaning of That Result

That document only shows the result of one exam written on one particular day. It is just a temporary result, not a complete measure of your ability.

It does not define your knowledge or your potential. It only shows how things went in a few hours under pressure.

So instead of seeing it as a failure, treat it as a learning phase.

What We Learned

Now we clearly understand:

  • The real level of competition
  • The importance of accuracy
  • Where we need to improve

This clarity itself is a big advantage.

This Is Our Comeback Stage

With opportunities like:

  • 18 AME posts
  • 25 Depot Manager / ATM posts
  • 23 AE (Civil) posts
  • 11 Section Officer posts

We are not at the end—we are at the beginning of the next opportunity.

So let’s not stop.
Let’s not doubt ourselves.
Let’s stay consistent and improve every day.

Final Words

This is not about one zone being easy or tough. This is about understanding that competitive exams are tough everywhere.

If you are close to the cutoff in any zone, you are already on the right path.

Next time, we won’t be “almost there.”

We will cross the line with confidence.

This is not our ending.

This is our comeback story.

Your comeback starts now!!!
